Socialists Pushing Accelerated Death and Euthanasia

Remember four years ago when newly elected President Barack Obama told us to look at the European countries who had socialized medicine as examples of what America should have?? He mentioned England and Canada and then referred to other countries as models for us to follow.

Virtually every one of those model countries are facing financial shortfalls in their national health programs.? Great Britain is cutting covered services and treatments to help offset the rising costs.

Now, socialists in France and Belgium are pushing for ways to reduce the cost of national healthcare.

France?s new socialist President Francois Hollande just announced that he will allow doctors to accelerate the death of terminally ill patients.? His proposal will be reviewed by a medical ethics board who hopes to have a formal plan of implementation ready by June of 2013.? In addressing the issue, Hollande said:

?The existing legislation does not meet the legitimate concerns expressed by people who are gravely and incurably ill.?

In Belgium, the socialist party just introduced legislation that would allow minors and Alzheimer?s patients to request permission to die.? Belgium passed an euthanasia law in 2002, but it only applies to people over the age of 18.? The current plan is to amend the existing law to include minors that ?are capable of discernment or affected by an incurable illness or suffering that we cannot alleviate.?

Historically, euthanasia starts with the terminally ill and dying.? Then it expands to the physically and mentally disabled that they deem to be a burden on society.? Before you know it, unwanted children and the elderly will be included so that they aren?t a burden on their families or society.

Yeah, I know the argument about ending someone?s suffering, but I don?t agree with it.? My own father is 91 and dying.? He is in terrible pain because most of his lower spine had disintegrated.? Yes, I hate to see him suffer and I do pray that God would intervene and take him, but I would never entertain the thought of seeing him take his own life or being involved with anyone who helped him do it.

I?m 61 years old and have lived in constant pain since I was 17.? There are days that I hurt so bad that I can hardly stand it.? To top it off, I have a genetic immunity to about 80% of pain medicines so there isn?t anything I have found that really helps.? Yes, there have been times that I have prayed for God to take me if it was HIS will, not mine.? He hasn?t acted on that option, so I continue to strive on, write my articles, be with my family and do what I can to help others and make a difference in their lives.

Why do I feel this way about my dad and myself?? It?s because we both believe in Jesus Christ and know that He will not give us more than we can bear.? When God is ready, he will call my dad home and I expect it to be soon.? As for me, I?ve had eight incidences in my life where I should have or could have been killed, but for some reason, God has chosen to keep me here.? So until He calls me home, I will continue to serve Him and my family to the best of my ability.

No euthanasia or accelerated death for us, no matter what our socialist government says.
